Bealtaine / Meitheamh 2017
Fáilte to our last Nuachtlitir of the school year. It's difficult to imagine that we are now into our last term and that preparations are all ready being made for next year. Speaking of which, it is of the utmost importance to have the book scheme arrangement in place before Friday 26th May as it will not be possible to join the scheme after this date.
We, the school community, are indebted to the members of the Parents Council who run this scheme every year.
Well done to our Credit Union Quiz Team and their mentors (see 6th Class Gallery) who performed impressively in the recent All Ireland Competition at the RDS. Lets hope that they inspire pupils, parents and teachers to uphold the proud tradition which we have in these competitions.
The schools Cooney Cup team are currently second on the table after four rounds of this years league. There is a determination with this group of players and mentors to retain the title which we won for the first time in 2016. The next few weeks will tell the tale.
At the moment, the school also has a team competing in Meath Primary Schools Division One. This gives more boys a chance of representing the school and makes training more exciting for all.
The schools hurling team recently participated in a triangular tournament in Ratoath (see hurling section for more details). We finished second -
On the Athletics front we will be sending a team to the Meath Primary Schools Meeting in Claremont Stadium in June.
Congratulations to the boys from 6th Class who received the Sacrament of Confirmation recently and the best of luck to Second Class for their First Communion on the 13th of May.
Our internal courtyard will receive much needed additions over the coming weeks, thanks to our wonderful Parents Association. They have ordered a series of benches for the area. These will be constructed from ecoplastic, in keeping with our schools commitment to caring for our environment. The courtyard will also feature the memorial bench for Fr Willie. We expect the area will get lots of use as an outdoor classroom.
And further news on an outdoor theme -
The boys have been carefully nursing seedlings and transplanting them to our garden -
